North Devon Design are a small team of highly experienced Graphic Designers and Web Developers working closely with Photographers, Copywriters, Marketing experts and IT experts. North Devon Design have been offering Web design as a service since 2003 and have kept pace with the fast moving changes constantly taking place. We embrace these changes as they widen the range of services we offer and help to improve our clients websites.
The team are headed by Rob Sumner who began his career as a Graphic Designer back in the late 80’s. After moving from traditional drawing boards to computers he became involved in Web Design and began a career move in the mid 90’s going on to gain experience working with clients such as BT, O2, Channel 4, Sainsbury’s, Unilever, Lawn Tennis Association, Liverpool FC and many more. Relocating to Devon in 2003, Rob set up North Devon Design, retaining many of his original clients and gaining many more local ones too. One of the quickest ways for a business to advertise themselves is by being found on an internet search. This is known as ‘organic searching’ when a user enters a search term (ie Devon web design) into a search engine and your business is listed within the results. However, organic searching is a highly competitive environment so the first step to ensure your site will appear in the results is to make sure your site is search engine optimised (SEO).
Before jumping into SEO it is important to understand what the term actually means. SEO stands for search engine optimisation, which is a process whereby a website is optimised for ranking on all search engines including Google, Yahoo and Bing.
This is often technical attributes including such things as headings, bold text, hyperlinks, alt tags and good code, all of which we carry out as standard on all of our websites. This will ensure your site is indexed, but does not guarantee your site will gain a high position. That requires much more work.
North Devon Design has grown steadily since 2003, mostly due to word-of-mouth recommendations from clients. Rob likes to build good relationships with all of his clients positioning himself as an extension of their team. If you are looking to improve your search engine position, there are several things we can do, but one important thing is to gain popularity on Social Media networking sites. Creating accounts with social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Instagram, Pinterest and many others can get people talking about your business and your products. People will pass your name around and link back to your site creating backlinks and validating your domain which all helps towards strengthening your search engine position.
